Sustainable Concrete: High Performance Solutions for Builders

Headline about the Booth Displays
Concrete and other cement-based products offer easily achievable contributions to certification— pertinent to more than forty green building practices covered by the NAHB National Green Building Standard. Solutions for stormwater management, energy-efficient building, and cooler pavements and roofs will be on display at the PCA booth (N2431).

One of the most important factors in a sustainable home is often overlooked—its walls. Concrete wall systems contribute to a home’s exterior walls energy-efficiency and comfort.

Light-colored concrete pavements and roof tiles help keep surrounding mitigate urban heat island effect. This can cause surrounding structures to lower cooling loads and reduce ozone formation

Pervious concrete and permable concrete pavers allow rainwater to naturally filter through it, preventing deposits of oil, grease and other contaminants from entering storm drains and going directly into the water supply.

PCA Economist Presents 2010 Residential Forecast

Ed SullivanReal estate and the housing market used to be ruled by three Ls:  location, location, location. Now, three different Ls are impacting the industry: lending, labor, liens.

According to PCA Chief Economist Edward Sullivan, tight lending standards, high unemployment, and a record number of foreclosures have had the biggest influence on the housing industry and relief in these areas will signal its rebound.

Find out what this Chicago Federal Reserve-honored economist has to say about today’s residential construction sector and when builders and homeowners can expect a recovery. Attend our press conference, Tuesday, January 19, 8 am, in the PCA Booth (#N2431) at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

Sullivan has been honored by the Chicago Federal Reserve for his forecast accuracy and named on the "Top Industry Influencers" by Concrete Construction in 2008.
