PCA 2007 Economic Forecast Decorative Finishes—Not Your Grandma’s Concrete


The most recent forecast from the Portland Cement Association predicts a 7.6 percent consumption increase in 2007 for nonresidential and a 4.4 percent jump in public sector. Sustained growth in these sectors is expected to boost cement consumption in 2007 and 2008.

PCA Residential Director Honored at World of Concrete The Beauty of Concrete


Concrete Construction
magazine will honor Michael H. Weber, PCA’s director of residential construction, as one of 2006’s “Ten Most Influential People in the Concrete Industry” for his efforts in marketing and promoting cement-based building systems and products for the residential construction industry. Weber and the other influencers will be recognized at a private reception on January 24 at World of Concrete.

Early in the 20th century, architects and other designers recognized the distinctive capabilities of concrete for creating lasting landmarks. Since concrete is such a versatile material, buildings, flatwork, countertops and more are only limited by imagination. With the use of color pigments in combination with white cement and various aggregates, the spectrum of colors available in concrete architectural applications is virtually limitless.

Sustainable Manufacturing in the Cement Industry

The U.S. cement industry is dedicated to manufacturing a superior product while continuously challenging manufacturing policies and procedures to improve energy efficiency and minimize emissions.

To ensure that the industry’s commitment results in consistent, tangible actions, PCA has developed the Cement Manufacturing Sustainability Program. PCA releases an annual Report on Sustainable Manufacturing that tracks the industry’s progress in improving the manufacturing process and updates the industry’s performance with respect to limiting its footprint.
