Portland Cement Association Adds Two New Seminars to Its Fall Concrete Series

SKOKIE, Ill.--Portland Cement Association’s Education and Training Department‘s concrete seminar series responds to concerns in the industry with the addition of two new seminars in its fall schedule.

“Aggregates and Chemical Admixtures for Use in Concrete” addresses the growing use of high-performance concrete mixtures and discusses the impact of aggregates and admixtures on the fresh and hardened properties of concrete. Supplementary cementitious materials (SCMs) have an indisputable influence on the properties of concrete. The new seminar “Use of SCMs and ternary Blends in Concrete” provides participants with a thorough understanding go SCMs, ternary blends and the effect of SCMs on concrete.


Fall workshops include:
• Oct. 10-13—Concrete: Principles and Practice
• Oct. 24-25—Aggregate and Chemical Admixtures for Use in Concrete
• Oct. 26-27—Supplementary Cementing Materials (SCMs) and Ternary Blends
• Nov. 14-16--Troubleshooting: Solutions to Concrete Field Problems

Registration and more information about the individual courses are available online at www.cement.org/learn or by phone at 847-972-9032. All courses are held at PCA Headquarters in Skokie, Ill., and hotel and in-town transportation accommodation assistance is available upon request.

Programs conducted at PCA meet requirements set by the U.S. Office of Education for Continuing Education Units. PCA retains permanent records of CEUs awarded to course participants, which are available on request. PCA is also a registered provider for the American Institute of Architects, Learning Education Units.
