Third Straight Record Year of
Cement Consumption Predicted |
|
The first rise in nonresidential construction in three years, coupled with little slow down in the residential sector, are seen as the main factors driving up demand. PCA expects 2005 single family starts to exceed 2004 records. New assessments of mortgage rates have caused PCA to strengthen its original projections through 2009. An increase in public works construction is also expected as state finances
improve and the Transportation Equity Act program is initiated. Additionally,
cement intensities continue to rise and are projected to do so through
2009. About the Summer Forecast
