| Portland Cement Association has named Fares
Y. Abdo, PE, as program manager of water resources within the Association’s
public works department. Abdo is responsible for the promotion of cement-based
solutions for water resources applications such as water conveyance, water
and wastewater treatment facilities, dams, spillways, canals, bank protection,
and reservoir liners.
Abdo
is a member of the American Concrete Institute. He has extensive industry
experience, including work in the fields of concrete consultation, structural
and construction materials investigation, nondestructive testing of concrete,
pavement construction, and more. Abdo is a registered professional engineer
in the state of Alabama.
Abdo holds a Master of Science in Civil Engineering, Structures and Construction
Materials from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He also has a
Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, Structures, from the same university.
Prior to joining PCA, Abdo has worked for Vulcan Materials Company as
manager/research engineer at Vulcan’s Technical Services Center,
and has held various positions with MACTEC Engineering and Consulting,
Inc.
