Chairman’s Safety Performance Awards
Safety by the Numbers
This award aims to increase industry safety awareness and reduce risks by recognizing U.S. portland cement manufacturers that have demonstrated superior employee protection records based on official data.
What We Look For
The Chairman’s Safety Performance Awards are based on recorded data from the U.S. Department of Labor’s Mine Safety and Health Administration. MSHA and PCA formed an alliance in 2008 to help focus the industry around worker safety and health, with an emphasis on education and awareness. These awards are one outcome of our relationship with the agency, and our effort has helped drive continual improvement among U.S. cement plants.
Judging
PCA’s Occupational Health and Safety Committee chooses recipients based on quantitative MSHA ratings that indicate unwavering standards of safety and risk minimization.
Winning plants rate in the cement industry’s top 10 percent of manufacturers based on low incidence of accidents and injuries.
